Fetherstone is the project of Australian singer, songwriter and producer Briana Cowlishaw. Originally emerging from a background in jazz and vocal harmony, her work
has evolved into a genre-fluid blend of alt-R&B, soul and indie textures, grounded in voice-led songwriting and intimate, self-produced sound worlds.
After several years based in the UK, Cowlishaw returned to Australia and began developing Fetherstone as a more expansive creative outlet — spanning music, visual
art and storytelling. Her work often explores the tension between nature and modern life, weaving together themes of connection, disconnection, and emotional cycles.
Her latest single Swipe Right marks a shift toward a more minimal, groove-based sound, reflecting on the addictive pull of social media — wanting to disconnect, but still
feeling drawn to stay visible and connected. It offers a glimpse into the sonic direction unfolding in her upcoming work.
